Volunteer Service

“Being human always points, and is directed, to something, or someone, other than oneself—be it meaning to fulfill or another human being to encounter. The more one forgets himself—by giving himself to a cause to serve or another person to love—the more human he is and the more he actualizes himself. ..."  Viktor Frankl

I have long been a member of the Boy Scouts of America, joining as a youth in 1979 and earning the rank of Eagle Scout.  I have since then have served as an adult leader until me stepping down from active service in 2024.  I am greatful to this organization for the life lessons learned, the great experiences and fond memories.

I am proud to have also volunteered for five years with the Civil Air Patrol (US Air Force Auxilary) as both a Cadet Program Officer and the CT Wing Historian.  One of my proudest awards I earned is my Disaster Relief Ribbon with a "V" device for working with our community partners during a Presidental declared disaster here in town.  I continue to give back to my community as a volunteer mental health professional with the City of Danbury's Medical Reserve Corp and the CT/RI Chapter of the American Red Cross.

In my spiriual life, I am an active member of my parish and belong to  the Knights of Columbus, St. Edwards Counsel.  I am also a supporting member of the Vatican Observatory Foundation as I am a stong believer that science and faith can coexist:

"He endows people with knowledge,

to glory in his mighty works,"  Sirach 38: 6 (NAB)
